All-Ireland Health Improvement
The Alliance works in collaboration with the National Forum of Family Resource Centres in southern Ireland.
All-Ireland Social Prescribing Network - AISPN
The All-Ireland Social Prescribing Network was established in 2017 in response to a growing interest in Social Prescribing. The network is made up of community development workers, health professionals and academics from across the island and from different Social Prescribing projects. HLC Alliance has been instrumental in the development of AISPN, which is currently co-chaired by Tony Doherty, HLCA Regional Coordinator.
Knowledge Exchange with the Family Resource Centre National Forum
With funding received from the Shared Island Civic Society Fund, both networks have created the Knowledge, Skills and Leadership Exchange, which is about creating a co-learning and co-development structure between two like-minded and similarly structured organisations spanning the whole island.
They have become experts in the field within their separate jurisdictions on two highly successful, evidence-based, mental health support projects: Better Days Pain Support and the Suicide Code of Practice.

Weaving Worlds Together
https://www.creativeireland.gov.ie/en/event/weaving-worlds-together/
The focus of the ‘Weaving Worlds Together’ project is the preservation of traditional Irish crafts on the island of Ireland. It is targeted at people who are engaging with Social Prescribing Services, North and South.
Social Prescribing endeavours to support people with issues such as social isolation, anxiety, loneliness, and inactivity, which negatively affect health and well-being. It offers a holistic approach to these issues through empowerment, achieved through engagement in meaningful social activities and community participation.
Linking with creativity enables improved health and wellbeing. Key Action: to provide tailored creative engagement options for groups. The interaction between services and communities North and South through these encounters will nurture connection, empathy and a wider sense of belonging and community on a whole island basis.
These crafts can aid the reduction of social isolation and boost mental wellbeing all while sharing the heritage of Ireland as a whole island in the practice of making together. We'll explore how these creative skills can be shared through our networks with skill exchange workshops that will include meet ups with social prescribers and the clients both north and south.
The project involves four Healthy Living Centres and three Family Resource Centres in County Kerry. It is led by Kerry County Council.
