The Resurgam Trust is a community owned and led trust supporting 6 local communities in Lisburn. The Trust is made up of 1000 individual members and 26 member groups. Our vision is to create social, cultural, financial and physical sustainability for The Resurgam Trust and the communities we serve by 2020 with our mission to connect with individuals and groups and to transform communities to create a sustainable environment within which all are proud to live, learn, play and work. Resurgam operates 6 social enterprises employing 87people.

To improve outcomes for our communities Resurgam has established the following networks:

Early Intervention Lisburn which is a multiagency partnership committed to improving outcomes for children in families across communities in Lisburn.

Resurgam Youth Initiative which works with over 300 young people each week through youth work and outreach programmes.

The Resurgam Women’s Network provides support for women across Resurgam communities to ensure equity of access to health, wellbeing, personal development, training, education and employment needs.

Health is an integral component of all programmes, initiatives and services planned and delivered by The Resurgam Trust. In particular:

The Laganview Enterprise Centre hosts a range of physical activity programmes supported by active community coaches and private providers. These programmes cover all ages and genders.

The Laganview Community Gym provides accessible and affordable access to a gym at the heart of the Old Warren Community. Staff training and links with a wide range of programmes and initiatives continue to ensure the gym is accessible to even the most reluctant gym goer. A current programme working with the CSAW project (run within Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council) is offering free gym membership to the over 60’s along with support from trained befrienders from Resurgam Staff and volunteers.

Staff and volunteers are trained in the following programmes which are provided in response to need:

 Weigh to health

 Walk leaders

 Chi Me

 Cook It

 Healthy Eating

 Sexual Health and contraceptive advice

 Smoking cessation

 ASIST and Mental Health First Aid

Partnership working enables staff and volunteers to refer into a wide range of services in response to need for example food banks, citizens advice or counselling for a range of issues. The Resurgam Trust is responsive to the health and wellbeing needs of the community through on going dialogue and engagement. Events such as the Annual Resurgam Fun Run, tailored Health Fairs and integrating health within seasonal events ensures that we provide opportunities to promote health and wellbeing, support early detection and encourage optimal management of long term conditions.
