ARC – Gemma’s story

The following case study is an excellent example of collaborative working. It is a story written by 2 family support workers from the ARC Healthy Living Centre: Susan from CHERISH Sure Start and Anne from SOLACE Hidden Harm Programme.

We were given a list of clients who were identified as having children who were potentially at risk, from either one or more parents abusing either alcohol or drugs and the hidden harm involved around that.

After the initial referral and introductions Anne met with the clients and proceeded to gather the necessary information to rate the family star system. From the outset it was obvious that these parents were extremely cautious when giving any information relating to the children. They were afraid of where the information was being sent and no amount of reassurance was sufficient, as a result their initial scoring was very high.
